Spot Easy is a Greater Boston apartment marketplace where every listing comes from a licensed real estate agent, and it's free for renters to use. The fair question is whether it actually works. We asked the people using it.

What are users actually describing?
Three themes run through the answers, and each maps to something specific about how the platform works.
Listings are current. Two users raised this unprompted. Listings come from licensed agents and MLS feeds rather than open posting, so stale and duplicate units get squeezed out at the source.
Agents respond. Tour requests go to the listing agent directly rather than into a lead pool, which is why "realtors were responsive" shows up rather than the opposite.
The map is how people actually search. Boston is a neighborhood-level market, where a twenty-minute difference on the Red Line moves rent by hundreds of dollars a month. The Greater Boston median one-bedroom is $2,750 as of July 2026, but the spread across neighborhoods is the part that matters, and that is easier to see on a map than in a list. Full figures are in the Boston Rent Index.
So is Spot Easy legitimate?
It's a Boston-built and Boston-operated rental marketplace, run by former real estate professionals and local engineers. Every agent on it holds an active Massachusetts real estate license and works under a valid brokerage, drawn from a network of 5,000+ verified agents. You don't have to take our word for the license part: any agent can be looked up in the Massachusetts licensee database.
Searching is free. Separately, Massachusetts changed broker fee rules on August 1, 2025 so that whoever hires the broker pays, which for most renters means no fee. Details in our guide to the 2025 broker fee law.
